Industrial Ethernet on show at National Manufacturing Supply Chain Exhibition in Dublin

Two new industrial communications products from Brainboxes will be on the Farnell stand at the National Manufacturing Supply Chain Exhibition in Dublin.

PE-505 is a 55 x 55 x 10mm five-port 10 and 100Mbit/s (10BASE-T/100BASE-T) isolated (1.5kV) Ethernet switch PCB with non-blocking layer 2 operation, that can be built into equipment.

Operation is from 3.3V (1.3W) or 4.5 – 12V (4.5W at 12V), with reverse polarity and transient voltage protection. Operation is also over -40 to +85°C.

TE MicroMatch-compatible connectors are used to make the PCB both board-to-board and board-to-wire compatible.

To allow light-guides to take their information outside the enclosure, on-board power and link indicator LEDs for each port have wide viewing angles.

SW-514 (left) is a DIN rail mountable industrial four port Gbit Ethernet switch.

It has galvanically isolated (1.5kVrms) Ethernet ports and automatic detection of 10, 100 or 1,000Mbit/s data transmission speed.

Operation is over -40 to +80°C, and it has a dual input redundant power supply which can be fed from unregulated 5 to 30Vdc – so USB, factory floor 24V or vehicle battery for automotive use. Reverse polarity protection is included.

Consumption is nominally 3.6Wmax: 550mA from 5V or 90mA from 30V.

The "power terminal is removable with numbered pins for easy wiring," according to Liverpool-based Brainboxes. "Power consumption is optimised based on the status of the link device."

No software required, and as well as factory and vehicle use, marine applications are envisaged.

Farnell will have Brainboxes’ new units, and its own Muticomp Pro products, on stand G06 at the Exhibition within RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin 23 and 24 May.

"The eighth National Manufacturing Supply Chain Exhibition & Conference features a line-up of leaders, academics and government agencies who will engage in a blend of keynote addresses and debates," according to Farnell. "The event will include an exhibition showcasing the technological solutions and business services, while business leaders can listen to case studies and technical presentations from manufacturing experts, and meet with technology providers."
